On November 10, 2025, Thomas E. Neely, a veteran of Pennsylvania’s hospitality industry and current CEO of Thomas E. Strauss, Inc., was named the recipient of the Patrick Daugherty Hospitality Leadership Award by the Pennsylvania Restaurant & Lodging Association (PRLA).The honor was presented at PRLA’s annual Spirit of Hospitality Awards Gala, held on November 10th at the Lancaster Marriott.

The award recognizes a hospitality executive or business owner whose innovative leadership and entrepreneurial spirit have made a lasting impact on the industry, while also demonstrating deep dedication to the betterment of their team and community. Neely, who has worked in hospitality since 1987, was lauded for both his strategic leadership and his lifelong commitment to the values of service and stewardship.

“Hospitality has been at the heart of my professional life for nearly four decades,” Neely said. “To be recognized by my peers with this award—and in the heart of Lancaster County, a place I care deeply about—is incredibly meaningful. This is an industry that thrives on people, and I’m honored to work alongside so many who share a passion for excellence, community, and care.”

A graduate of Penn State University’s School of Hospitality Management, Neely has held leadership roles across hotels, resorts, restaurants, and destination. In 2021, he became CEO of Thomas E. Strauss, Inc., the parent company of several of Lancaster County’s most iconic hospitality brands, including AmishView Inn & Suites, Miller’s Smorgasbord, Plain & Fancy Farm, Smokehouse BBQ & Brews, The Quilt Shop at Miller’s, The Barn & Hearth Shop, and Locally Made Food Shop.

Neely’s leadership has brought a renewed focus on growth, guest experience, and workforce development—both inside the company and across the broader region. He currently serves as Chairperson of the Lancaster County Workforce Development BoardPresident of the Penn State Hotel & Restaurant Society, and Executive Board Member of PRLA.
